(Abstract) Reduction or elimination of rare earth magnets which most of electric motors in the EV and HV use is very important. This paper develops an EV driven by an induction motor that does not use rare earths. The control method includes the flux-weakening method in order to improve the maximum speed. This paper proposes an accident prevention method using ultrasonic sensors. The emergency brake is performed by the signal from the sensor. The region in which the emergency brake can prevent the collision is clarified for the developed EV from the experiments. The proposed method is useful to prevent accidents in parking lots.
